About the role
The Manager of the Processing Laboratory is responsible for the Processing Laboratory operations for oncology clinical trials, including direct supervision and development of staff, adherence to standard operating procedures and reporting, and ensuring proper safety, operations, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Responsibilities
- Direct supervision and development of staff
- Adherence to standard operating procedures and reporting
- Proper safety, operations, and maintenance of laboratory equipment
- Education and training of staff on laboratory manuals
- High-level medical laboratory processing procedures
- Confirming inventory and acquiring study supplies
- Expert processing and shipping of bone marrow and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic samples
- Verifying accurate records and scheduling courier for sample shipments
- Ensuring adequate supplies of dry ice
- Assisting staff with responding to queries from study sponsors or contract labs
- Partnering with CMC and Tennessee Oncology Laboratory leadership
- Leading the development of tools, processes, and forms to enhance efficiency and quality
- Preparing reports for leadership, sponsors, CROs, and other individuals/groups
- Coordinating study logistics and participating in staff meetings
Requirements
- Ability to read, understand, and comply with research protocols
- Strong computer skills with demonstrated ability using clinical trial databases, electronic data capture, MS Access or Excel
- Resourceful with heightened analytical abilities and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills, detailed-oriented, and meticulous
- Clinical and/or scientific experience in a research setting required
- Management experience required
- Clinical and/or scientific experience in a research setting specifically with working with profiling preferred
- Research certification (ACRP or CCRP) preferred
