About the role
The Benefits and Customer Care Specialist will perform routine programmatic service functions related to information and referral services, WA Cares application and account management, and long-term care assessments
Responsibilities
- Provide technical assistance and consultation on WA Cares program requirements and provide options counseling
- Submit, review, and research complex applications of current and former Washington state workers, older adults, and people with disabilities for WA Cares services
- Operate as the primary service contact for the program and respond to statewide inquiries online, over the phone, and in-person
- Educate individuals, family members, and representatives about WA Cares Fund benefit amounts, and prepare the customer for supports post-WA Cares Fund service exhaustion
- Determine long-term care options for individuals including private pay, Medicaid-funded long-term services and supports, and other community resources
- Assist WA Cares Fund Assessment Specialists with explanation and adjustments of recommended services plan to ensure customers are educated on choice and maximize allotment of benefits
- Approve, deny, modify, and cancel WA Cares Fund payment authorizations to ensure recipients can access long-term care services and providers can claim for services provided
- Act as a liaison for long-term services and supports providers
- Support people or their representative in understanding the service plan developed during their long-term care assessment
- Assist with finding long-term care providers, consult on services available, and provide guidance on provider rate setting
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience including planning, policy analysis, coordination and consultation with a variety of public and private agencies, organizations, or levels of government
- 6 years of professional/practical experience in planning, policy analysis, coordination and consultation with a variety of public and private agencies, organizations, or levels of government
