About the role

Manages the Company’s corporate insurance programs as well as responsible for the interactions with Brokers, Actuaries, Insurance Companies and Executives, Insurer’s Claims Lawyers, Regulators and internal and external risk management leaders. Leads corporate risk initiatives by identifying risks and appropriate risk transfer partners/solution or self-insurance solutions that provide best in class coverages.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of international risk management for corporate insurance including documentation and management reporting.
  • Develop and lead Corporate Insurance claims efforts via analytics focusing on minimization strategies but knowing when to take issues to court.
  • Strongly partner with departments claim team and SWA litigation team to ensure thorough and efficient operations, as well as alignment on key issues.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Captive Insurance subsidiary, Triple Crown Assurance. Look for opportunities to compare currently procured insurance vs self insurance as well as identify and manage other captive strategies.
  • Works directly with our Enterprise Risk Management team to prepare and support the Aircraft Accident and Weather Response teams for corporate insurance
  • Develop and manage insurance programs, risk remediation strategies, and action plans based on market research and market developments that mitigate the Company's exposure to seven large policies.
  • Ability to work with international experts on how best to solve international risks and lack of domestic supply for certain coverages.
  • Lead, develop, and effectively communicate quantitative analysis related to the Company's insurance premium pricing versus risk tolerance and other topics as requested
  • Manage the Company’s premium expense and forecasting process; effectively communicate the financial statement drivers and metrics to Senior Management
  • Negotiate via the brokers for best-in-class coverage and terms for each product ensuring pricing is better than general market trends including extensive international travel where domestic insurance capacity and cover is insufficient.
  • Negotiate along with Supply Chain Management with the Company’s suppliers for favorable contract terms for insurance coverages.
  • May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders

Requirements

  • Knowledge of current domestic and international markets and related events in the insurance, broker, claims, and captive markets.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, Leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of People and resources
  • Knowledge of finance, economic and accounting principles, including financial statement analysis
  • Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Skilled in understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, actuaries, accountants, internal and external litigators, claims teams, internal claims subject matter experts.
  • Ability to choose the right reasoning and fact sets to solve a problem ensuring all considerations are presented
  • Ability to identify potential business opportunities and prepare persuasive business cases for approval
  • Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events)
  • Able to make formal and informal presentations to all levels of the organization including Senior Leaders.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of external stakeholders including Insurance Regulators, Top Insurers, External Claims Litigators, Actuaries, Auditors and Accountants
