About the role
This full-time position is for an Adaptive Physical Education Teacher working with K-12 students in a special education setting. The role involves providing tailored physical education services to students with diverse physical and developmental needs, ensuring accessibility and inclusion in physical activities.
Responsibilities
- Deliver adaptive physical education instruction tailored to students with physical disabilities or special needs
- Assess student abilities and progress, adapting activities as necessary
- Collaborate with special education teams and other professionals to support student goals
- Maintain documentation and compliance with school and state guidelines
- Foster a safe, supportive environment encouraging physical activity and inclusion
Requirements
- Certification or licensure in Adaptive Physical Education or Teacher of the Physically Impaired (TPI) in Minnesota
- Experience working with students requiring adaptive physical education services
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for physical education
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with educators, therapists, and families
- Knowledge of laws and regulations related to special education and physical impairments
