About the role
Highway Maintenance Worker 2 - Seasonal
Responsibilities
- Perform asphalt and concrete pavement maintenance and repair
- Maintain drainage facilities including catch basins, sedimentation facilities, and ditches
- Maintain and/or repair guardrails, fences, and impact attenuator installation
- Establish, maintain and/or repair trees, landscaped areas, to include planting and remediating sites
- Haul materials such as rip rap, hot and cold asphalt, sand, gravel
- Remove litter on state right-of-way to include animal remains and debris from roadways
- Track, document, and report daily work activities
- Account for inventory and inventories highway section
- Perform snow and ice control
- Operate 54,000 GVW trucks equipped with plow, sander, deicer applicator, and computerized control
Requirements
- Possession of a Washington State CDL Class B without airbrake restrictions and N (tanker) endorsement
- Competence in operating and maintaining heavy equipment, trucks, or similar machinery for roadways, construction, or related activities
- Proficiency with basic computer and electronic tablet use to communicate, capture, and retrieve information
- Ability to perform roadway maintenance, construction, landscaping, farming, or related labor-intensive tasks
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively in varying weather and road conditions
