About the role
The Staffing Office Onboarding Lead is a critical operations management role responsible for leading and developing a professional team, driving performance excellence, and spearheading transformative initiatives within the onboarding function.
Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and coordinate day-to-day operational activities within the Staffing Office Onboarding unit, including meticulous work distribution, capacity planning, and resource optimization.
- Provide comprehensive people management, fostering a high-performance culture through consistent performance discussions, objective evaluations, and effective partnership with HR for corrective actions and employee development.
- Establish clear, measurable team goals that align with Citi's performance management structure, focusing on both "what" (results) and "how" (behaviors and execution).
- Drive motivation and professional development for team members, identifying training opportunities stemming from data quality findings and operational analysis.
- Monitor and ensure the timeliness and efficiency of all onboarding operational activities, strictly adhering to established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Implement and enforce robust performance management strategies to ensure teams consistently operate with the highest regard for quality, accuracy, and productivity.
- Establish and lead efforts for the standardization of operational processes and procedures, creating consistent, scalable workflows across the onboarding function.
- Actively identify, champion, and implement continuous process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency, reduce friction, and elevate the candidate experience.
- Address system issues proactively with System Operations (System Ops) and Global Functions Technology (GFT) partners, demonstrating urgency, consistent follow-up until resolution, and strategic escalation when critical.
- Maintain and regularly update comprehensive operating and desktop procedure manuals, along with clear process flows, to ensure operational clarity and consistency.
- Partner closely with HR Control & Compliance (HRCC), Staffing Office Oversight, Policy Owners and Legal teams to ensure full compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and co-employment laws.
- Proactively identify and ensure that corrective actions are swiftly implemented for all control-related issues, with appropriate remedial action taken where necessary.
- Ensure the implementation and continuous adherence to strong operational controls, maintaining compliance with Manager Control Assessment (MCA) standards.
- Assess risk appropriately when making business decisions, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients, and assets.
- Effectively supervise the activity of others and foster accountability with those who fail to maintain established standards and policies.
- Liaise with sourcing teams, legal departments, internal customers, and suppliers to ensure all audit guidelines are met and strict adherence to Citi policies, processes, and procedures is achieved.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to senior stakeholders and other team members, providing expert guidance and advisory services on onboarding operations and related matters.
- Assist the Business Unit Head in accommodating complex requests related to the business unit, including those from auditors and other internal/external parties, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
- Possess the ability to operate with a limited level of direct supervision, demonstrating independence of judgment and autonomy in decision-making.
Requirements
- 5-10 years of progressive experience in operations management, with a significant portion in a leadership role, preferably within a staffing, HR operations, or similar high-volume processing environment.
