About the role

WSDOT is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as the Regionwide Maintenance & Operations (M&O) Superintendent for the Southwest Region’s (SWR) M&O Program

Responsibilities

  • Direct one (1) Facilities Manager and three (3) Maintenance Supervisors in the scheduling and operations of the Regionwide office
  • Develop long-term requirements, including funding, fleet and staffing needs, program policies, support services and budget oversight for the Areas programs
  • Oversee the implementation of policies and practices that support employee diversity, career development, training and recognition
  • Administer WSDOT policies, labor contracts and work rules
  • Assure coordination at the regional level with Program Management regarding project selection for inclusion in the Highway Construction Program
  • Approve and sign for but not limited to requests for leave, payroll registers, travel vouchers, correspondence, stores orders, field orders, property transfers, inventory adjustment, accident reports and invoice vouchers
  • Develop, solicit bids for, award and administer contracts for region level maintenance/preservation projects, asphalt and aggregate procurement, equipment rentals and miscellaneous goods and services
  • Direct the preparation of estimates and funds requests for roadway safety improvements and other special projects
  • Set standards for maintainability, approve and/or comment on preliminary construction plans, design reports, utility permits and franchises, road access connection permits and developer improvement projects
  • Develop plans for, manage and direct the response to natural and man-made disasters in the area; coordinate with the appropriate County EOC within the National Incident management System (NIMS) structure and direct field response
