About the role

This Natural Resource Scientist position offers a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and collaborative applied coastal research team – Washington State’s Applied Research and Coastal Engineering (ACRE) Section

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine mapping of shoreline conditions and support functions of the Shoreline Mapping Unit
  • Develop and apply innovative shoreline mapping and analysis techniques
  • Conduct geospatial and statistical analyses
  • Manage imagery collection contracts and subscriptions
  • Report and present scientific information

Requirements

  • Eight years of experience and/or education as described below
  • Professional level experience in shoreline mapping, coastal science or engineering, surveying, geomorphology, photogrammetry, point cloud processing and/or digital elevation models
  • Experience manipulating and interpreting photogrammetric data, topographic survey data, aerial imagery, and other remote sensing datasets
  • Experience developing large scale environmental datasets for public dissemination
  • Familiarity with Puget Sound geomorphology and nearshore ecology
  • Proficient in in ESRI ArcGIS Pro
