Job Highlights
Bring your enthusiasm to the Department of Labor and Industries as our Custodian 2! In this role, you’ll help to “Keep Washington Safe and Working” by providing a safe, sanitary environment from which L&I programs can operate.
You’ll be responsible for custodial tasks including Refuse Recycle Services, and event support for our South Wing. In addition, the Custodial Services provides an essential support service that promotes a pleasant experience for visitors who visit the building.
Duties
Some of what you’ll do:
Restroom cleaning and/or restocking, trash removal, glass cleaning, stocking custodial pantries, unlocking buildings.
Areas may be assigned for regular cleaning including dustings, vacuuming, cleaning, and wiping surfaces during business hours.
Outdoor activities include cleaning of ashtrays, entry ways, leaf blowing, emptying trash cans
Carpet/Chair Cleaning with carpet extractors and upholstery extractors
Tasks include life safety response to spills or other immediate cleaning needs during the day.
Event support includes set ups of tables, chairs and other items as needed. Set up trash and recycle containers, and emptying of them as they fill.
Qualifications
Required:
The ability to do required work and the ability to read and write.
AND
Six months to one year experience in custodial, general or building maintenance, grounds keeping, or semi-skilled carpentry, electrical and/or plumbing repair work.
Physical ability to:
Lift, move, and/or transfer 50 lbs. or more.
Stand, walk, stoop, bend, reach, push, pull, and kneel.
Work safely with a backpack vacuum, floor crew machinery, and other equipment as designed for up to 8 hours.
Wear a uniform and use prescribed chemicals on a daily basis which may require the use of protective equipment.
Work in and around building occupants, visitors, or other trades personnel.
Exercise discretion in the workplace, respecting the privacy and confidentiality of information found there
Note: A valid Washington state driver’s license may be required.
